Commissioned by his family as a memorial anthem for longtime WUMC choir member Harold Coe, with text by Harold’s late wife, Marianne.  This song is a marriage of the vocal and accompaniment parts, intended as a dialogue between those of us living and those who live in our memories.

Text by William Shakespeare.  Originally intended as a solo song, “Sonnet” took its life as a choral piece.  While the song is delightful to the listener, the performer is treated to many inside jokes - deliberate stereotypes of the different voice parts, and plenty of innuendo to go around.

While certainly requiring more vocal forces due to the voicing, this song does not lose those moments of ‘musical intimacy’ that Kevin is so good at creating.  This song is published by Shawnee Press and can be ordered through their website.  A full audio sample is also available.

The composer’s own lyrics for this Christmas anthem were inspired by Frederick Buechner’s “The Hungering Dark.”  The music centers around the contrast of darkness and light inherent in the Christmas message.

The text of this seventh-century Latin text was translated by John Mason Neale (1818-1866) and is most often performed to Purcell’s Westminster Abbey hymn tune.  This arrangement was written for the 50th anniversary celebration of Westlake United Methodist Church.

Inspired by “The hungering Dark,” this text by Lisa Lublin Foster places the ancient Aramaic Maranatha (Come, O Lord) greeting from Revelation with the context of Advent and Christmas.

Based on the text “Come unto me, all ye who labor...” in Matthew 11:28, this song offers a beautiful melody and subtle moments of text-painting.

Commissioned by the Olmsted Falls High School Chorale, the text is from senior choir member Donielle Sauer.  The music follows the text in a free-form plea for social harmony.

The text is adapted from Colossians 3:14: “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity,” the benediction from Lisa and Kevin’s wedding ceremony.

Composed for WUMC’s 50th anniversary.  The unexpected use of harp and flute, in addition to brass and timpani accompaniment, presents a refreshing, modern sound for an ancient text.

This setting paints an almost impressionistic picture - supporting the natural beauty of the melody with open sounding harmonies and shifting colors.  This arrangement is often performed during Holy Week, from the balcony, behind the listeners, in near darkness.
